In the Hopskotch messaging system, public topics are topics to which any registered SCiMMA user may subscribe. Private topics are restricted channels intended for communication within a specific collaboration or working group.

ampel.lsst.extragalactic-transients This topic provides transient event reports generated by the DESY / HUB AMPEL instance using real-time alerts from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory (VRO). Alerts are selected as likely extragalactic transient events where a high quality photometric classification can be made. Classifications are made using the best performing transient classifier of the ELAsTiCC challenge and combines encoder-decoder and boosted decision tree algorithms. The classifier minimally requires four separate photometric detections as well as a distance (redshift) estimate. The latter based on the most nearby galaxy and is determined based on spectroscopic redshifts where available, otherwise photometric galaxy redshifts. Each report contains the original VRO photometry along with additional derived quantities produced by the AMPEL processing pipeline. ampel.lsst.extragalactic-infants This topic provides transient event reports generated by the DESY / HUB AMPEL instance using real-time alerts from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory (VRO). Alerts are filtered to identify candidate infant extragalactic transients, optimized for teams aiming to exploit the depth of VRO to observe events at very early phases, close to the initial outburst. Core selection criteria include not having a previous history of variability, being in the vicinity of a nearby galaxy and being outside of the Milky Way plane. Each report contains the original VRO photometry along with additional derived quantities produced by the AMPEL processing pipeline.
